64 Hours of the N64
If the video stream or the chatroom don't load for you, pay the folks at Adobe a visit and update your flash player.

Marathon Description:
There's no doubt that the Nintendo 64 had a bunch of great games, many of which still influence the video gaming industry today. We'll pay homage to that oddly-shaped black box the only way we know how-- by playing through ten of our favorite Nintendo 64 games back-to-back.

What games were chosen for our top 10 list? That won't be revealed until the Marathon begins! However, we followed a few guidelines that should help narrow down the potential choices a bit.
  • The game had to be exclusive to the Nintendo 64 at the time of its release (for example, N64 games re-released on the Xbox 360 are fair game).
  • We're only going to play one game per franchise (So there's just one Mario, one Zelda... etc. Whoops! I suppose you can probably guess at least two of the games now...).
All the money raised will go to the Free the Children, a charity that provides clean water, healthcare, food and education to children in developing nations!

Why the Nintendo 64?
We all grew up with a Nintendo 64 and feel it has some pretty fantastic games. There are also a few underappreciated titles for the system that we feel we ought to highlight. Plus, despite scouring the internet, we were unable to find any top ten list that reflected our own favorites, so we decided it was time to compile our own.

What's the criteria for completion?
Although it differs from game to game, most of the time, we'll call the game done once the final boss is defeated. In some circumstances, we may play parts of the game multiple times to unlock different endings or get 100% completion.

What system will you play the games on?
Well, as the title would suggest, all of the games are going to be played on the Nintendo 64. No emulation or Virtual Console here, folks! We'll just have to blow in those cartridges extra hard and hope they don't freeze up on us.

Will this Marathon really be 64 hours?
More or less. We've worked out the timing so that it'll be at least 64 hours long. There might be a countdown timer on the feed somewhere to keep track of the time-- we'll probably render a verdict on this based on your feedback.

I want to watch, but I'll be away. What do I do?!
Provided there are no unforeseen technical issues, we'll be recording the entire Marathon so you can re-watch it whenever you'd like!

What's this I hear about raffling off a Nintendo 64?
We're raffling off a Nintendo 64 and our top 5 games (plus 2 bonus games) to donors! For every $5 donated, you will receive one entry in the raffle. The system and games all work perfectly. The whole thing is worth approximately $100 and comes with everything shown below:

What happened to the ChipIn widget?
Funny story, actually. The ChipIn widget decided to stop working the night before the Marathon. When one would click the "ChipIn" button, the widget would redirect you to the PayPal homepage instead of the page where one can donate.

Luckily, thanks to Pat, SnowPhoenix9999 and Kamokow, we've whipped up the functional solution that you can see on the left side of the site. Clicking the ChipIn button on the new system will now redirect you to the correct PayPal link and allow all donations to be counted.

If you were wondering what happened to ChipIn, take a look at the widget below. Clicking the ChipIn button on that widget redirects to the PayPal homepage instead of the place where one can actually donate. It does still track donation totals though, so if you can't bear to go without the little thermometer graphic, it's all still there!
